Groovy sites

Mind Body Green A one stop shop for wellness with articles about finding your center from every perspective--physical/mental/spiritual/humanitarian.

Matt Long's Story  This is the story of an NYC fireman who was in the best shape of his life--and then it all came crashing down.  His recovery and return to run the NYC marathon is one of the most inspirational things I've ever read.  Any time I think I can't go another mile, I think of this guy.

Heifer International  There's an old adage that you give a man a fish, he eats for a day but teach a man to fish and he eats always.  This charity embodies that philosophy by providing families with livestock and training so that they may raise their own food.

Charity:water  Living here in the U.S. often makes us forget that the things we take for granted--hell, that we consider vital for living--are not guaranteed across the world.  An easily accessible water supply is one of those things.  This site is doing something to help.

Souls4Souls  If you've ever considered giving someone the shirt off your back, perhaps think about throwing in your shoes, too.  This organization takes new and gently used shoes of any kind and sends them to people in need throughout the world.

Deviant Art
This is a great site to find artistic inspiration.  Anything from water color to manga.  This is where I found the artist who designed my tattoo.

Eat Wild  If you're looking for local grass-fed meat and egg products, this web site give lists of farmers by state.

Punk Domestics A super cool site with tons of information about home canning, preserving, amazing fresh food recipes, wine making, gardening.

Locks of Love
Feeling the urge for a new do?  Donate that shed hair to children who need hairpieces due to medical conditions.

TerraCycle
I've been trying to reduce my carbon footprint, and with kids, the sheer amount of packaged goods is dizzying.  TerraCycle offers a new life for juice pouches and those incredibly indestructible chip bags.

PTSD
June 27th is National PTSD Awareness Day.  If you know a veteran who's suffering, please direct them here.
